LISTEN TO OUR MUSIC

Øra nØir is an independent saxophone quartet based in Virginia, dedicated to showcasing Black musicianship through intentional programming and community engagement. The ensemble’s founding members are Dykeem Cervantes (soprano), Gregory Thompson (alto), Tyrique Payne (tenor), and Dylan Royal (baritone). Collectively, they bring experience from leading institutions: Cervantes (BM, Eastman School of Music; MA candidate in Arts Management, American University), Thompson (BM & MM, Northern Arizona University), Payne (BM candidate, James Madison University), and Royal (BM, James Madison University; MM candidate, UNC Greensboro). Øra nØir seeks to elevate diverse voices in classical and contemporary chamber music while honoring the communities that support its work.
